How does Nalapad Academy boost imagination and creativity in primary school?
People believe that creativity is innate. Nalapad Academy helps students connect to & develop their creative abilities and ideate them with relevant support and conducive environment. Drawing, painting, writing, reading, dancing, acting, art & craft, moulding art ,sand art, and imaginative play are some of the ways to express creativity. Children with strong executive functioning abilities will not only perform better in school but overall. To advance the student’s creativity and imagination, Nalapad Academy ensures working on the crux. Every child is observed for their uniqueness through the beginning of their journey with Nalapad Nest. We build on their strengths and work on their limitations so that moulding them is easy for their primary years and their transition into active schooling is smooth.
Encourage learning & thought through art
Instead of teaching directions conventionally, facilitate it through art. Art is a tool for expression of feelings, through painting, sculpture, collage, clay, sketching, or any other medium. By encouraging focus and concentration, manipulating art supplies offers a sensation of independence. Furthermore, engaging in artistic activities gives kids a sense of mastery over their resources, which results in new creations.
Display of Creativity
At Nalapad Academy, student artwork is displayed in the classroom using picture wires and bulletin boards. Exhibiting the kids’ work on display promotes their talent, encourages creativity and boosts the drive to work hard. We have many talent corners inside our campus where the students work is displayed for viewing, sharing to learn mutually from each other and
Introduce role play in the Classroom
Role play allows students to have fun, but it also teaches them how to effectively solve problems in real life. Role play is used to motivate and engage students in the classroom, impart confidence, learn to work alongside others and also aid in learning, by providing the students with practical life scenarios. A very sensitizing and thoughtful roleplay was performed on bullying by the middle school and high school children. It made children adept with various ways to combat and action being bullied and also stop being bystanders to bullying.
Enquiry based learning
Raising thought provoking hypothetical questions will encourage students to research & reflect. To spark a thought/dialogue or provide an idea for imaginative play, you can ask “What/Why/When/How would you do….” kind of questions.
Quoting an example from the Global perspectives class, the children were asked, “Are humans too dependent on technology right now? Will a robot take over humans in all aspects?” The children came back with numerous opinions and strategies around it. Also to realize that robots/AI lack many human elements like emotions, creativity and expression, to reach a verdict that humans are irreplaceable. It is debatable, but that’s for another day.
This learning method ensures that a child builds multiple skills at a young age through thinking, research, analysis, collaboration and communication. These skills are applied across all academic disciplines(subjects).
Step outside and relax.
Fresh air and a vibrant environment can spark creativity and imaginative mental narratives when the students explore the world outside of the classroom and school. Integrate time outside classroom instruction be in sync with the school’s curriculum. Use the outdoors to enhance your knowledge and perspectives of the real world. Since the early years along with the other students have come back to school after a two year pandemic restriction, now they need to align with the real world again. They have always been in their nest and the pandemic isolated them from the real world all the more. They need to be aware of how our surroundings and our country is progressing. What better time than August (independence day month) to step out and witness that India is facilitating accessibility consistently, through the testing times, like any other developed country. They need to watch that even masked on and taking all the precautions, life is thriving outside their cocoons.
Bottom line
Future-enabling qualities include imagination and innovation. They ought to be incorporated into all learning aspects to prepare students. Nalapad Academy ensures skill building rather than instructional teaching and delivers this by aligning it with “how to think than what to think”. Thus the outcome of this methodology brings out a thinker and creator in every child. Our aim is to achieve that all the attributes of cambridge resonate in a child’s personality, through their journey with us.
